I told you I had some news! Big news! For those of you that read my last Stitch Fix post, I gave a spoiler! We are expecting a new addition to our little blended family, sometime in mid-April! This will be my second child and PJ’s fourth. Our first child together. I have to be honest, this was totally unplanned and completely unexpected. Sometimes life just decides to throw you a curveball.
But even when life doesn’t go as planned, everything happens for a reason. Sometimes, we don’t always know that reason right away. That reason causes change. Sometimes it hurts. Sometimes it’s hard. But in the end, it is what it was meant to be.
It was so much fun telling Sophie the news that she was going to be a big sister. She was so excited. She’s only been asking me for two years now when I’m going to give her a baby sister…we don’t know the gender yet, but Sophie really wants a sister. I had to remind her though, that we don’t get to choose. It’s entirely in God’s hands. Haha Sophie told me she would pray that she will be given a sister. I had to tell her though that even if she ends up with a brother, we need to love him just the same as a sister.
Since Sophie found out, she has asked questions non-stop. Thank goodness for YouTube because it’s hard to explain to a six year old how a baby is born. What does a baby eat? How does the baby eat? I showed her a vaginal birth video and some breastfeeding and pumping videos. She thought it was the coolest thing on Earth (her words)!
I know in my heart that Sophie is going to be an amazing big sister. She keeps telling me how she wants to help take care of the baby. She said she will play with the baby, rock the baby, feed the baby and tell the baby the rules. But mommy has to change all the diapers!
