Creating colorful, tie-dye Easter eggs is so easy with a few simple materials. I have never been a fan of using the Easter egg dye tabs mixed with vinegar and water. The dye mixture always seems to get everywhere. Those little metal egg holders do not work the greatest. Which then leads to just using your fingers. Then your fingers get stained for days and overall it’s just a big mess and a food dye disaster. Anyone else seem to have this problem?
Tie-Dye Easter Eggs
Materials:
- eggs
- coffee filters
- markers
- rubber bands
- spray bottle with water
Directions:
1. Fold one coffee filter in half and color different colors around the filter. Make sure to press hard so it bleeds through to the other side. Repeat step with other colors.
2. Open filter up and place one hardboiled egg in the middle. Wrap the coffee filter around the egg and tie off with a rubber band.
3. Place wrapped eggs on a paper plate and squirt each egg with water until it is completely wet. Don’t add too much water, just add enough where it is wet but not soaked.
4. Place in fridge for about 25-30 minutes. Take out and unwrap each egg to reveal the pretty tie-dye pattern.
For my crafty friends, there has to be something you can do with these beautiful, tie-dye coffee filters that are left over?!
These tie-dye Easter eggs are so fun and so simple to make! The nice thing is, you probably already have all the materials at home! Have you tried this method? If so, how did it work for you?
