Whether you get inspired to try a new recipe, create your own style or craft a DIY project; this site provides you with easy to follow, step-by-step tutorials aimed to spark your creativity and make every day life a little more beautiful and fun!

I am a one woman show and I like to keep things real and do-able. My motto is “make it pretty and keep it simple!” I am not perfect and I’m not trying to reach perfect people. Because hey, let’s be real, no one is perfect. Most days, I am just here flying by the seat of my pants, fueled by a whole lot of coffee!

Who is Shelly?

I am Shelly! First and foremost, I am a mom to my beautiful daughter Sophie and my son Logan. I am the girl whose mind never sleeps. I am an adventurer at heart, a bit spontaneous and believe life is an adventure. I love to explore beautiful places, try new foods and snap photos everywhere I go (which I post regularly to Instagram). I find beauty in the world around me and seek inspiration from just about everything! I blame this on being a Pisces!

I currently live in Virginia Beach, but I was born and raised in Michigan. I have lived in the Midwest, Pacific Northwest, on the east coast and spent a lot of time traveling to San Diego. My heart is forever in the Midwest. Unless it can be in Seattle. I would love to live in Seattle again! Upon graduating high school, I didn’t immediately go to college. I thought I needed to broaden my horizons so I decided to join the Navy! I got to explore places like Dubai, Hong Kong and Singapore!

I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration majoring in Accounting. Don’t ask me why because there is nothing creative about that degree and I will probably never put it to its full use. I have a love-hate relationship with numbers. I dabbled with a few careers in my life, mostly working in administrative offices. I spent several years working for the government, was an office manager at a local, beach resort near my hometown and even tried my hand at being a mailman!

I started blogging in 2011, shortly before my daughter was born. I needed a space that would serve as a creative outlet for me. My first blog, Behind Blue Eyes, was a mommy + lifestyle blog that turned into a fashion + beauty blog. Then at the end of 2015, life happened, which you can read more about here. I did not have the time or energy to continue blogging so I stopped. But the truth is, every day I wasn’t blogging, I wished I was blogging. I missed it. So I decided to start blogging again and started this one fresh.

When I’m not here blogging and spending way too much time on social media, you can find me with a coffee in my hand, being a mommy, probably crafting and listening to 90s music like its nobody’s business!
