One Word for The Year: Let Go

Every year around this time, I feel it — that deep urge to reset. Not just the “new planner, new pens” kind of reset (although… you know I love that too), but the kind that starts inside. I find myself reflecting and choosing one word for the year to guide how I want to feel, live, and show up in the months ahead. It’s not about pressure or perfection — it’s about intention.

This year, my word is Let Go.
Okay yes… technically two words. We’re not being strict here. 😉

Why I Choose One Word for the Year

Instead of setting a long list of resolutions, I’m focusing on something much simpler and more meaningful. I’m giving myself permission to pause, reset, and choose a word that feels grounding, freeing, and exactly right for this season of life. For me, let go means releasing the things that no longer serve a purpose in my life — physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Letting Go of Physical and Mental Clutter

Let’s start with the things.
Somehow, over the years, we’ve accumulated so much stuff. Closets full of clothes we don’t wear, drawers we avoid opening, cabinets stuffed with “just in case” items that never actually get used. It’s overwhelming. And honestly? It feels heavy.

I’ve noticed that when my space feels cluttered, my mind does too. I feel scattered. Tired. Uninspired. That’s when I realized — creating space isn’t just about organization. It’s about peace.

Letting go doesn’t mean getting rid of everything or living some extreme minimalist life. It means being intentional. Keeping what I love. Releasing what stresses me out. Making room to breathe again.

And it’s not just physical clutter.
This year, I’m letting go of guilt. Of unrealistic expectations. Of the pressure to do all the things perfectly. I’m letting go of holding onto routines, commitments, and habits that no longer fit the season I’m in.

Instead, I’m choosing space.
Space to slow down.
Space to create.
Space to enjoy the little moments — morning coffee, quiet journaling, cozy nights at home, and yes… a little sparkle on my nails just because it makes me happy.

Let go.
Breathe.
Create space.

That’s the energy I’m carrying into this year. And honestly? It already feels lighter.
