We don’t even want to talk about 2020…was 2021 really any better? I feel like this entire past year of 2021 flew by like the blink of an eye. So I set some life goals for 2022 to help make me a better person!
I want this year to feel like I got to enjoy life and accomplish something. I will make this year to be different. So I set some objectives and goals to give myself something to strive for, rather than just floating through life like the past few years have felt like.
Ask me what I did for this entire year. We moved back to Michigan in December 2020. I started working full-time again in April 2021. Aside from work and renovate our upstairs, I don’t have any other answer. We didn’t even make s’mores over a bon fire this year. I feel sad.
Life Goals for 2022
1. Create a self-care routine
First and foremost, I’ve spent way too long taking care of everyone else and neglecting myself. Now it’s time to start taking care of me again.
2. Give yourself a nice gift
It’s ok to reward yourself every once in a while! For me, I’ve decided I’m going to get myself monthly massages. I have RA so I live with chronic pain. Massages greatly helps reduce my pain.
3. Do some exercising
Let’s face the truth, exercise is important. Above all, it keeps you healthy. I want to do yoga every single day. For instance, two years ago, I spent 30 days doing yoga. As a result, I lost 10 lbs., reduce pain in my body, and lowered my stress levels. Yoga has so many health benefits, so this is a daily goal for me.
4. Declutter your home
Elsa said it best. “Let it go. Let it go.” It’s good to let things go. Remove things from your home that you are no longer using. Get rid of things that no longer serve a purpose to you. Let go of things that no longer spark joy. An ode to Marie Kondo. Make space for things you are passionate about.
5. Get some fresh air
Take time to appreciate the beauty around you. Our lives are filled with work and then we come home and do more work in the house. Technology gadgets keep us inside way more than we need to be. My goal is to take a walk at least 3 times a week. Yes, even in this frozen tundra of winter.
6. Have some fun
Reward yourself for working hard. Life can’t always be about work. Enjoy the moments while you can.
7. Spend less time on social media
Why waste your time seeing what everyone else is doing on social media? Unplug and choose to spend more time living your life and creating positive memories for you to remember.
8. Be more present
This goes along with #7. As I mention earlier, the year seemed to fly by. Why? Because I never focused on spending the time to just enjoy the present/moment I was in.
9. Spend some time alone
Give yourself some alone time. A time for reflection. A quiet moment for you to think and plan ahead.
10. Do one big thing
Travel somewhere. Lose weight. Start a business. Pick one thing you want to do this year and make it happen. Think big and don’t be afraid to chase your dreams!
11. Read more books
When was the last time you stopped and picked up a book to read? Our daily reading habits revolve around Facebook updates, tweets, etc. I won’t go on a tangent about the benefits of reading. However, my goal this year is to read 12 books.
12. Set priorities
Think about what you are going to make a priority heading into the new year. What are your goals and what steps are you going to take to achieve them? For me, this involves a planner and planning ahead. I’m a checklist type of person. I schedule my workout, water intake, etc. right into my planner so I can cross it off my daily to do this. This holds me accountable. Need help organizing your life? Check out these tips!
13. Create more me-time
In conclusion, we all have crazy lives with work, children, spouses, etc. that not only takes our time, but our headspace. And what happens? This causes burnout and stress. Give yourself one day a week…or one day a month to spend doing something that makes YOU happy! For me, I want to take up painting or doing craft projects again!
